As part of our “Continuous Education Programme” at Hippo, some of the team recently embarked on a day of site visits, this time focusing on a selection of leading London hotels and event venues.
With London being our most popular destination our clients request for events, we think it is vital that we continue to experience venues firsthand and stay up to date with the latest developments across the capital.
The day provided an excellent opportunity to explore a diverse range of properties, each offering unique event spaces suitable for conferences, meetings, training programmes, product launches, networking events and much more.
As expert venue finders, our main focus was reviewing the meeting and event spaces, but we also took the opportunity to explore the bedrooms, restaurants and overall guest experience at each property.
Seeing venues in person always gives a much better feel for how an event would work in the space and the type of experience delegates can expect. During the day, we visited:
- Canopy by Hilton London City + Florattica
- Leonardo Royal Hotel London Tower Bridge
- Leonardo Royal Hotel London City
- Leonardo Royal Hotel St Paul’s
- Hilton London Tower Bridge
- InterContinental London
One of the highlights of the day was visiting Canopy by Hilton London City and heading up to Florattica, their beautiful rooftop restaurant. The views across London were incredible and the space had a really relaxed yet stylish atmosphere, making it perfect for networking events, private dinners or post-meeting drinks. The hotel also offers a selection of contemporary meeting rooms, making it a great choice for smaller corporate meetings and executive gatherings.
The Leonardo Royal hotels each offered something slightly different, but all stood out for their flexible event spaces, extensive bedroom capacity and strong facilities for corporate groups. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch at Leonardo Royal Hotel London Tower Bridge, which gave us the opportunity to experience the food and service first-hand.
Leonardo Royal Hotel London City felt like an excellent all-round option for meetings and group stays, offering spacious event areas, a range of flexible meeting rooms and over 300 bedrooms in a convenient City location. Meanwhile, Leonardo Royal Hotel St Paul’s impressed us with its extensive conference facilities, including one of the largest pillar-free event spaces in the City, multiple breakout rooms and capacity for several hundred delegates, making it an ideal venue for large conferences, exhibitions and multi-day corporate events. One of the standout features was Sabine’s – the beautiful indoor garden-style area with a central bar, creating a welcoming setting for networking, informal meetings or evening drinks after an event.
We also visited Hilton London Tower Bridge, which had a modern and professional feel throughout. Its location near London Bridge makes it particularly convenient for business travellers and smaller corporate meetings, while being just a few minutes’ walk from Tower Bridge itself. The hotel offers flexible meeting rooms for board meetings, training sessions and private events, while its riverside setting provides an impressive London backdrop for over 500 delegates.
To finish the day, we explored InterContinental London – The O2, which delivered a premium experience with elegant interiors, exceptional event facilities and a polished atmosphere suited to large-scale conferences and executive events. The hotel boasts one of London’s largest purpose-built conference centres, with a ballroom capable of hosting well over 3,000 delegates alongside dozens of breakout rooms, making it an outstanding choice for major national and international events.
What stood out most throughout the day was how different each venue felt.
Some offered a more relaxed boutique atmosphere, while others were designed for large-scale conferences and corporate gatherings. Having the chance to walk through the spaces, see the room setups and experience the hospitality first-hand is incredibly valuable when recommending venues to clients.
Overall, it was an insightful day and a great opportunity to discover more venues that we know would work brilliantly for future meetings, conferences and corporate events in London.
